Dear Reader,
On behalf of the Indy hospitality community, thank you for standing by us during one of the most trying times for our industry. You bought gift cards and incorporated take out dinners into your nightly routine. You even bought more than 12,000 Indy shirts with proceeds donated to recovery funds. Your heartfelt messages in support of the very places you love to dine, shop, and explore meant the world to us. And as we look to re-open this city in phases, we still need you.
There is no doubt that the hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit industries by this global health pandemic, yet we know that this city is resilient and we will rise stronger than before. Our momentum will return and one day we’ll marvel at how we made it through this time.
And to the 83,000 men and women who make up Indy’s hospitality community, we commend the many Indy establishments who pivoted their operations during these hard times. Many industry partners changed course and adapted to the needs of the community while others lent a helping hand by giving back to those in need. It’s safe to say we were encouraged, inspired and thankful for all that this community accomplished throughout this trying time. We were encouraged by the efforts of Sahm’s,Tinker Street, The Alexander and so many more who partnered with local organizations to provide meals to Indy’s less fortunate. We were inspired by Tinker Coffee, Soupremacy, Circle Kombucha and others who gave back to community organizations and healthcare heroes. And we were thankful for those who pivoted to provide us with essentials, including Hotel Tangomaking hand sanitizer andRooster’s Kitchen converting into a neighborhood bodega. We are thankful.
Now as we look toward the next chapter, we encourage you to support Indy businesses and restaurants as we work to recover and rebuild as one city. Our hospitality community was here for us when we needed them and it’s now time to support and uplift in return. Our people are what make Indy the city that it is and it’s up to us to work together to bring our industry back in the safest and most efficient way possible. So, when the time is right for you, come take a seat at your favorite table in the city. And while you’re at it, invite a friend to come visit. We want the world to meet the people and places that make our community so vibrant.
