Social Cantina has brought their sixth restaurant to College avenue with the opening of their new location. As of Monday November 10th, 2025, the former site of Gallery Pastry Bar is now a full-service restaurant and bar, complete with a 1000 square foot patio and mural by local artist Kimmy Wachtel.

Situated in a walkable and trendy section of Broad Ripple and Meridian Kessler, the new location is set to draw brunch crowds and game day foot traffic as they settle into the neighborhood. They’ll be offering happy hour specials and a brunch menu, complete with mimosa flights and a charred-jalapeño-topped bloody mary.

The Broad Ripple location will feature the same menu mainstays as Social Cantina’s other locations, including the downtown location on Mass Ave. The Broad Ripple bar menu will offer beers from Social Cantina’s sister brand, The Tap Brewery.

The building at the corner of 46th and College has lived many lives, originally opening its doors in 1932 as a Kroger supermarket location. The mural on the north side of the building, a mix of dessert cacti and bright colors, comes from Indianapolis artist Kimmy Wachtel.

“I was inspired by traditional Mexican embroidery to create a landscape of vibrant florals and plants with Social Cantina’s signature flamingo enjoying a margarita as the focal point,” said Wachtel. “I had a blast getting to know the neighborhood and appreciated all the support I received as I was painting. I hope that this mural continues to make people smile as they walk or drive past for years to come.”

Bloomington-based Finney Hospitality Group, the parent company of Social Cantina, also announced a partnership with Butler Athletics, with offerings for fans before and after games at Hinkle Fieldhouse, and discount offerings at the stadium throughout the season.

“Our newest Social Cantina location within Broad Ripple-Meridian Kessler offers a community feel that we hope will really resonate with residents,” said FHG President Chris Martin. “We look forward to growing alongside these neighborhoods and becoming a mainstay for families and nearby businesses.”

Social Cantina Broad Ripple is now open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, with early openings on Saturdays and Sundays for Brunch service. Find out more at thesocialcantina.com.
