Things to Do Around Indianapolis for WNBA All Star Weekend

This weekend is setting up to be one of the busiest of the year for downtown Indianapolis. If you’re looking for something to do, there’s no shortage of events to choose from.

The Courtyard, presented by Pacers Sports and Entertainment, will take over Georgia Street this Friday and Saturday in celebration of WNBA All-Star Weekend. CRG POP, Cunningham Restaurant Group’s pop-up restaurant, will be part of this bigger pop- up experience, offering Hawaiian burger sliders, shrimp cocktail, and their specialty cocktail menu. Visitors can sip on limoncello spritzers, strawberry hibiscus margaritas, and their Strawberry Lemon coconut water mocktail. 

The pop-up will be open to the public throughout the day, Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19, with DJs, a custom “W” sculpture, and vibrant food and drink.

Indiana Black Expo is also hosting their annual Summer Celebration this weekend, with three full days of events scheduled for Friday through Sunday. Outdoor music, fashion shows, leadership and art exhibitions, and more are going on throughout the city. Their full program of events is available on their website.

More Weekend Fun

At the Indiana Convention Center, WNBA Live presented by Panini will take place on Friday and Saturday, offering a fan festival for its fourth year. Athlete meet and greats, 3-point contests, and custom merchandise offer just a few ways of celebrating All-Star weekend. 

For more downtown fun, visit Mass Ave Summerfest on Saturday from 11a.m. to 5p.m. As part of this free, family-friendly event, enjoy live music, a bustling marketplace of artists and makers, the Merchants Association Sidewalk Sale, and more.

Also on Saturday, Summerfest is back at Victory Field with the Indiana Brewers Guild. They’re cracking open some cold ones from 2p.m. to 7p.m. for ticket holders aged 21 and over. MVPs can enjoy exclusive tastings from Hard Truth and Quaff On Brewing. General admission still includes 3oz. tastings of local beer, spirits, and cocktails– plus a live DJ and activities around the pitch.

The summerfest activities do not stop there– Fortville is hosting their annual festivities, from morning yoga to live music and food truck vendors. Eastsiders can also enjoy a fireworks display for a bit of a night out in the suburbs.
