Lick Ice Cream has just crossed the one-month mark of its second location at 1101 E. 52nd Street, right on the Monon Trail. The vision is to move ice cream production to the new 800-square-foot storefront and create a space for patrons to watch ice cream be made.
“We had this place fall into our lap, and it’s just bigger than what we would need for just a shop,” said Meredith Kong, owner of Lick Ice Cream. “We thought this might be perfect because people can come and see the ice cream be made.”
Lick was started 15 years ago after Kong received an ice cream maker as a wedding gift, and “fell in love with making ice cream.” The shop has 30 rotating flavors and can hold 12 flavors in its dipping cabinet. Its most popular flavors are brown butter cookie dough, ginger snap lemon curd, and buttermilk and sea salt brownie.
The business’ ice cream is currently made off-site. Kong is unsure of the timeline to complete this project, but is “hoping in the next few months.”
