Although Cinco de Mayo lands on a Tuesday this year, there are still plenty of spots around the city for a quick bite or sips after work to celebrate Mexican culture and cuisine. We’ve rounded up five of our favorites right here in Indy for celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Cholita in Broad Ripple
For an unbeatable shrimp taco and tons of variety, look no further than the menu at Cholita. The taco platters truly feel like the main event, but the bar staff at Cholita are also some of the most friendly in the city. Get a flight of mezcal or top shelf tequila to feel like a true agave savante.
Tacos & Tequila on Main
Kick off the month of May with this west side favorite. The birria tacos are a particular favorite, but if you’re feeling particularly festive, the seafood Burrito comes coated in three different sauces to resemble the Mexican flag.
Paco’s Taqueria
The locals already know. Whether it’s the keystone location, their food truck, or any three of their other locations around the city, there’s a reason Naptown has been chowing down on Paco’s for over a decade. Order a la carte with a side of sweetcorn, or opt for one of their taco boxes for larger orders.
Revolucion in Fountain Square
If walls decorated in Luchadore masks, habañero-infused tequila, and sharing plates of loaded nachos weren’t enough, Revolucion’s vibey bar and restaurant lead to a grass skirt patio space tucked away from street traffic, perfect for a private sip and chat after work or a late-night stop on Prospect.
Social Cantina on College Avenue
After opening their doors last Fall, Social Cantina’s SoBro location has already connected with the community through partnerships with Butler for gameday specials and restoration of the iconic art deco building. The locally owned chain has all of the favorites, including a refreshing seasonal lemon coconut margarita, which is definitely worth adding to a margarita flight.
