Nestled in the heart of downtown Noblesville, 9th Street Bistro offers a dining experience that’s as much about the journey as it is the destination. Owners Rachel and Chef Samir Mohammad have created a restaurant that’s not just a place to eat, but a place to connect, explore, and savor the flavors of the local community.

“You can get a meal anywhere,” says Rachel Mohammad, “but people want an experience.” This philosophy is evident in every aspect of 9th Street Bistro, from the carefully curated menu to the inviting atmosphere, complete with cozy nooks, greenery and thoughtful touches.

More than Farm to Table

The Mohammad’s commitment to “farm-to-table” dining goes beyond simply sourcing local ingredients. They’re deeply invested in understanding the entire process, from where the food comes to how it’s prepared. “I don’t really like the term, because it’s not just farm to table,” explains Rachel. “It’s how. How far does it travel? What steps does it go through to get to that table?”

9th Street Bistro prides itself on supporting local businesses and farmers whenever possible. They carefully consider both cost and value when making purchasing decisions, ensuring that the ingredients they use are both sustainable and delicious. For example, their mixed greens now come from Full Hand Farm, a local supplier that offers higher-quality produce that lasts longer.

Sustainability is another important aspect of 9th Street Bistro’s philosophy. They strive to minimize waste and make a positive impact on the environment while still making fun, flavorful and creative dishes.  “If money isn’t the motivator, what can we do?” asks Rachel.

Global Inspiration

At the restaurant, the focus is on global cuisine with a seasonal twist. They love to combine familiar flavors with unfamiliar ones, creating dishes that are both comforting and exciting.

Beyond their regular menu, 9th Street Bistro offers a variety of special events and collaborations. Their Supper Club features themed dinners available for pick-up on Sundays, allowing guests to enjoy a unique culinary experience at home. The Mohammad’s love a good theme (Hawaiian and Southwest are two of our favorites) and draw inspiration from their travels, reading, and personal experiences.

“The lamb chops are my favorite right now,” says Rachel. The bone-in frenched lamb chops are seasoned with vadouvan curry, served over chana palak (curried spinach, chickpeas, tomatoes & coconut cream) and topped with cilantro gremolata. Pair it with their freshly baked rosemary focaccia bread or house-made burrata and you’ll be immediately swept off your feet.

Curated Cocktails and Mocktails

The Bistro boasts a delightful array of handcrafted cocktails. Grab a classic favorite like the Old Fashioned and the Margarita or venture out with one of their more innovative creations like the Headless Horseman– pumpkin spice liqueur & syrup, spiced dark rum, house ginger beer & lime or the Porkchop Prima– peppadew infused vodka, peppadew shrub & lemon juice.

The bar is known for its creative and playful cocktail names, often paying homage to notable town officials. For example, the “Chris Jensen” is a classic Old Fashioned, named after the current mayor of Noblesville. Other cocktails feature names inspired by local leaders and community figures, adding a unique and personal touch to the drinking experience.

Community Collaborations

They also host a variety of special events, including Wine Dinners, Community Dinners, and Chef Collaboration dinners. “It’s fun to work with other chefs and get their unique perspective,” says Rachel. “We also love the opportunity to bring new flavors and ideas to the table.” Some recent Chef Collab Dinners include one with Chef Tyler Shortt from Tinker Street and Chef Alan Sternberg of Bluebeard.

Two more Chef collabs coming up are with Chef Tyler Shortt of Tinker Street and Youssef Boudarine of J’Adore Pastry in October and Chef Jeff Harris of Nolia (Cincinnati) in November, broadening community and perspective across the foodie community.

Creative Inspiration

The Mohammad’s also understand the importance of rest and rejuvenation. They close the restaurant twice a year for two weeks to recharge and travel. This practice allows them and their staff to stay inspired and continue creating innovative dishes. One of the keys to 9th Street Bistro’s success is their dedication to building relationships with their customers. They believe in staying true to their brand and offering a consistent, high-quality experience.

Whether you’re a local resident or just passing through, 9th Street Bistro offers a truly memorable dining experience.

It’s no wonder that this restaurant has become a beloved destination in downtown Noblesville.
