It’s good to remember that a Thursday 4th of July means some are getting a whopping five-day weekend this Independence Day– so what is one to do with all that glorious time? Savor the summer with these activities, taking the long holiday weekend to downtown and beyond.

Check Out Indy’s Largest Food Fest

If your tastebuds want something to do on July 4th weekend, Taste of Indy, the city’s largest food festival, is it. The food festival will take place in White River State Park on July 6th from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. With diverse dishes from local eateries, live music, and family-friendly activities, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the holiday weekend.

Grab a Drink with Your Furry Friend

Metazoa Brewing Company is a great place to enjoy a craft beer with your furry friend. This pet-friendly brewery offers a relaxed environment where you can unwind, sip on locally brewed beers, and let your dog socialize. Their 4th of July extravaganza is happening July 4th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with live music, local vendors, food trucks and new beer.

Jam Out at a Concert at Everwise Amphitheater

Enjoy live music at Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park. With a lineup of talented artists, it’s the perfect spot to dance the night away under the stars. You can catch The Beach Boys and Whiskey Myers this holiday weekend, and there are a few tickets left. Plus, there’ll be a killer view of the Victory Field fireworks from the back ridge of the lawn (more on this later).

Watch a flick during Newfield’s Summer Nights

Relax under the stars at Newfields’ Summer Nights Film Series. Bring a blanket and some snacks to enjoy a classic movie in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Newfields campus. It’s a perfect low-key way to spend the evening. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the film begins at dusk. This weekend’s film is a classic, National Treasure. What better way to celebrate Independence Day than by watching Nicholas Cage steal one of the nation’s founding documents?

Get Festive at Red White and Brew

Celebrate the holiday at Howl at the Moon’s Red, White, and Brew party. Enjoy live music, dancing, and festive drinks. This patriotic party kicks off your Independence Day weekend celebrations on Georgia Street this Friday.

Catch a Fever Game Against the New York Liberty

If you can snag tickets, support the Indiana Fever as they take on the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, happening Saturday, July 6th at 1 p.m. We’re still only a few weeks into the season, so there’s still plenty of time to catch the Fever before the shot clock runs out.

Visit the Red White and Blueberry Festival

Head to Mallow Run Winery for their Red, White, and Blueberry Festival. Enjoy wine tastings, live music, and delicious blueberry treats. It’s a delightful blend of festive fun and relaxed vineyard vibes; this Bargersville winery is known for hosting indoor and outdoor events year-round, so this is a great option for people trying to get into the countryside without venturing too far from the 465 loop. More details can be found through Mallow Run.

Catch a Baseball Game at Victory Field

This holiday weekend is the quintessential time to celebrate America’s favorite pastime. Head to Victory Field to catch the Indianapolis Indians in action. After the game, stick around for a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the Indy night sky. You can catch a game on July 4th, 5th, and 6th– tickets are available through the Indians box office.
